Commuting to Opportunity: Employment Patterns of People Living in High-Poverty Neighborhoods
Join us for the release of Elizabeth Kneebone’s new paper, Commuting to Opportunity: Employment Patterns of People Living in High-Poverty Neighborhoods. The fourth paper in the Advancing Opportunity Through Affordable Housing series, this paper examines where residents of high-poverty neighborhoods find work and what their commuting patterns teach us about what must be done to address longstanding spatial and racial disparities in access to housing, jobs, and opportunity.

Together, we’ll explore the housing and jobs landscape and engage in a discussion of solutions that (1) address investment in high-poverty places and their residents and (2) increase access to low-poverty, jobs-rich communities for people who would live closer to work if they were able.

The panel will include:

• Elizabeth Kneebone, Research Director, Terner Center for Housing, University of California, Berkeley
• Shannon Ross, Vice President, Policy, Housing Partnership Network
• Andrew Jakabovics, Vice President, Policy Development, Enterprise Community Partners
