Urban farming - the Javitz center in NYC has just started an urban garden on the roof! Green roofs also help reduce heat island effect (green building) and reduce operating costs by providing better insulation

Here in Boston, there's a church looking at putting raised beds in large pots on the roof of their new sanctuary. The plan is to use the produce in their pantry. This is still in planning stages
